Rare set of three large candle holders from the L-102/32 Claudia model, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson for the Swedish publisher Markaryd in the 1960s. Made of brass and tinted glass in an elegant gradient of smoked, honey, and cognac tones, they perfectly embody the refinement of post-war Scandinavian design.

Each candle holder features an ingenious spring system hidden within the stem, allowing for easy candle placement and adjustment. The cylindrical glass shades diffuse a soft and warm light, characteristic of Jakobsson's creations, who sought to soften the flame's glow with subtly filtering materials.

The set is in beautiful vintage condition. The bases show different patinas, reflecting their history and use over time. There are slight traces of brass oxidation and small localized chips on the lower part of the glass shades, invisible when the pieces are assembled (see photographs). All three pieces retain their original manufacturer's labels.

Dimensions (per piece):
• Height: 34 cm (13.4 in.)
• Width: 12 cm (4.7 in.)
• Depth: 12 cm (4.7 in.)

Condition:
Good vintage condition.
Slight brass oxidation.
Deliberately non-uniform patinas on the bases.
Small chips under the glass shades, not visible when assembled.
Manufacturer's labels present.

Circa: 1960

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919-2009) was one of the major figures of 20th-century Swedish design. Trained in cabinetmaking and architecture, he founded his own company in Markaryd in 1951. His creations are distinguished by a constant search for soft, subdued light, going against aggressive light sources. His collaboration with Markaryd led to the creation of lighting and decorative objects now considered classics of Mid-Century Scandinavian design.
