Color print by Jean Lurçat (1892–1966) depicting a large stylized rooster set within an ochre-orange disc and surrounded by foliage.

The composition brings together several characteristic elements of Lurçat’s graphic vocabulary: strongly cut-out vegetal forms, bold black contrasts, and a warm palette dominated by earthy tones and orange.

This color linocut / linograph reprises the motif used for the poster of the Galerie d’Art du Casino de Saint-Céré, where Jean Lurçat’s tapestries, lithographs and ceramics were presented on a permanent basis. The work can be dated to circa 1960–1962.

Stylized Jean Lurçat signature printed in the plate.

The work has recently been professionally custom framed with a matte black frame and acrylic glazing.
