Brass tripod lamp base with an articulated structure, resting on three angular feet characteristic of the Arts & Crafts aesthetic. The central shaft is extended by an adjustable arm mounted on a ball joint, allowing for use as a desk lamp or a wall lamp depending on the tilt.
Characteristic construction of late 19th-century English functionalist lighting, directly in the line of Benson.
The whole presents a homogeneous antique patina, highlighting the cast brass.
Articulated brass tripod lamps appeared in the Arts and Crafts movement, where functionality took precedence over ornamentation. Benson developed modular lighting, often in brass, influenced by an almost industrial logic.
This model is part of this stylistic lineage, but without a mark, it should be considered a production in this movement rather than a certain attribution.
