Maison Le Dauphin – “Caraïbes” Table Lamp with Red Gorgonian Inclusion – France, 1970s–80s

French table lamp by Maison Le Dauphin, model “Caraïbes”, dating from the 1970s–80s.

Its decorative feature consists of a red gorgonian coral included within a thick block of black translucent epoxy resin.

The block is mounted on a brass structure, itself resting on a black lacquered wood base. The inclusion remains visible along the edges of the resin block, enhancing the sense of depth.

An original label underneath the base identifies the model as “Caraïbes”. The lamp is presented with a new white cotton lampshade. The lampshade is not original.

Maison Le Dauphin, founded in France in the 1960s, specialized in decorative lighting combining brass, glass, resin, ceramics and natural materials.

Condition

Good vintage condition.

The resin block is well preserved, with no losses or chips, only a few very light superficial scratches consistent with age.

The brass and base show light signs of use and normal patina. The white cotton lampshade is new.
